Checkeeper offers lots of great features for printing and mailing customized business checks on demand, including some features you may have never tried. Checkeeper offers customizable check layouts that can be modified and redesigned to suit users’ needs, or they can be replaced by an uploaded check image of the user’s choice. Check layouts contain check elements, which are the fields that need to be filled in with payment information, including payee, amount, date, signature, memo, etc. Checkeeper allows users to move elements around and resize them in order to create a desired look or to match the format of an existing check layout.

What is the purpose of check elements?

Check elements are the fields that contain the vital pieces of check data, such as payee name and dollar amount. The elements appear {bracketed} in your check layout and indicate to the Checkeeper software where and how to position each field of information. Check data should be typed into the format that Checkeeper prompts, and not directly onto the check layout. Checkeeper will automatically replace the blank {elements} with the data that you’ve input.

What are the customizing options for check elements?

Move an element

If you’ve uploaded an image of a check layout you plan to use, you may need to make some adjustments to the elements so that everything lines up right for printing. Inside your chosen check layout, you can move an element by hovering over it with your mouse and then dragging the outside red line to move the box into its proper position.

Add a new element

Checkeeper layouts include all the elements necessary for printing viable, cashable checks. To add a new element to a check layout, select the element from the right-side option menu, and drag/drop it into its new desired position. For those times when you want to add a bookkeeping item more specific to your needs—like customer ID or invoice number, for instance—you can create a specific element to add to your check. To create a custom element, go to the Settings tab, and click on ‘Custom Fields.’ Input the name for your new field, and click ‘Add Field.’ The element will appear in your menu of element choices inside your check layout, and you can drag it directly onto your check layout in the place and position you choose. If it needs further adjustment, highlight its surrounding box, and add or shrink the space as necessary to fit on the designated lines.

Edit an existing element

Elements can be customized to create a desired check appearance. Checkeeper offers several font sizes and types as well as alignment options that users can select from to give their checks a custom and unique look. Elements can be edited using the drop-down menu above the check layout that shows you the font and alignment options available.

Delete an element

Don’t need a certain element anymore? Need to get rid of an older element to make room for a new one or to eliminate redundancy? Removing elements simply involves hovering over the element and clicking on the delete ‘x’ in the corner.
