3 Easy Ways To Give Checks a Refresh

Checkeeper’s check templates are versatile, adaptable, and customizable so that users can give their checks a new look when they need a refresh, need to change banking or contact information, or want to update the look to match other marketing material in order to get the most from the branding opportunity.

Want to give your business checks a new look for better branding and a more enhanced professional quality? Consider some things users can do inside Checkeeper to give checks a new look:

Add a background

One great feature of Checkeeper is the ability to print on any check stock users prefer. For those who are out of check stock, Checkeeper can print on blank paper, too. Checkeeper templates offer some default backgrounds to place on checks, or they can be replaced with uploaded images of your own checks that already contain the background or design images that you prefer. Upload into your account the images you want on checks, and save them inside a designated check layout so that you can drag and drop them onto checks when needed.

Plain business checks are not as remarkable or as memorable as those branded with your company logo. Your checks are likely to go to a wide variety of payees, including vendors, suppliers, lenders, employees, customers, and many other business affiliates who take occasional or frequent payments. Checkeepers can make the most of the marketing opportunity afforded by customizable checks by reinforcing the company brand in the mind of each person who receives payment. Upload a color business logo into the Checkeeper account and then drag-drop the image onto the check layout. Resize and realign your logo whenever needed to give your check a professional look. Need to replace it altogether? Pre-printed checks cannot be changed once they are in your hands; Checkeeper checks are print-on-demand so that users can delete their logo and replace it altogether on subsequent checks. Run more than one business? Upload a logo for each company into the designated layout for each business’s settings, and place the appropriate logo on only those company’s checks.

Add a custom check field

Custom check fields can be added to any selected layout to add an extra line item to aid better bookkeeping and more efficient processing. Checkeepers can add an additional line item—or replace the existing ‘memo’ line—in  order to align check data with other data needed for bookkeeping records. Add a a line for ‘invoice number’ or ‘customer ID’ to help process payments with greater accuracy while also helping payors match check information to internal bookkeeping records when checks are cashed. Custom check fields also give users an additional search element whenever a payment needs to be tracked down, rerecorded, or verified. When the custom check element is no longer needed, simply deactivate it in the account so that it does not appear on subsequent checks. Deactivated check elements will still appear in the online check registry as valid search terms so that previous checks containing that element can still be traced.

To add a custom field to checks, follow some simple steps.

· Go into ‘Settings’ (located along the left-side navigation bar).

· Click ‘Custom Fields’ along the top.

· Add the name for the new field, and click ‘Add Field.’

To activate a custom field, go into ‘Layouts’ (inside the left-hand navigation bar), and follow some simple steps.

· Click on the layout of choice, and hit ‘Edit Layout.’

· Within the elements tab, a menu of custom fields will appear on the right side of the check design and will contain your new field.

· Drag and drop your new field onto the check in the desired location.

Make sure the check layout with the new custom field is the ‘active’ layout so that future checks printed contain the new check field. Custom fields that are no longer needed can be deactivated so that they no longer appear on checks, but they will be saved in the registry so that users can still use those elements as search terms for later expense tracking and reporting.
